regnie beaujolais maison des bulliats wineRégnié – Maison des Bulliats, Grand Cru du Beaujolais, Burgundy

Régnié is an appellation for red wines in northern Beaujolais, France, covering land immediately east of the village of Beaujeu.  Once a part of the Beaujolais Villages appellation, years of lobbying by the region’s growers saw the area confirmed in 1988 as the tenth Beaujolais cru. Régnié wines are some of the lightest of the Beaujolais crus, and are sweet-scented and structured, with refined tannins.

La Maison des Bulliats is a small family run vineyard producing Régnié, a delightfully light, fruity and well structured red from the Gamay grape variety. This Beaujolais offers fragrant aromas and flavours of cherry, raspberry and a hint of spice. The original vines of the region were planted by the Roman governor Reginus from which the cru and local village derive their names. This Grand cru is a terrific food wine. Pair with turkey, ham, or soft cheese. Suggestions: Serve cool at 14-15°C on opening.
