Wine Of The Week

saint chinian syrah mourvedre – bertrand wineSaint Chinian Syrah Mourvedre – Bertrand – Languedoc-Rousillon

You won’t be disappointed with this attractive Saint-Chinian, Appellation. The wine is full-bodied, rich, and it offers blackcurrant, cherry, notes of coffee, and spices. It is a well-balanced, and elegant wine with a lovely finish.

Vinfication and Maturing

The grapes are picked for the most part by hand and subjected to a double sorting in the vines and in the cellar. Vinification is traditional with destemming of the grapes prior to the maceration stage which lasts roughly 1 month. The grapes are then pressed before the malolactic fermentation. One third of the wine is aged for 9 months in barrels, the rest being matured in vats to keep the fruity character of the wine.

FYI – Languedoc-Roussillon is one of the biggest wine producing regions in the world, responsible for over 1/3 of France’s wine production.
